Got Orthotics?
I noticed about a month ago that after I pushed myself on a run that a little pebble would pop up under my foot by the end of the day. It turns out that the pebble was really the joint of my middle toe bone, and the way my foot was hitting the ground was wearing away the foot padding under my toes. So I was running with only the padding of my shoe, and it would cause inflammation in that area of foot thus the bone protruding out.
I went to the foot doctor and he said that the way my foot was hitting the ground when I ran was causing the problem. He suggested orthotics to try and correct the problem. The way I look at orthotics are glasses for the feet. They correct the way your feet interact with the surface you are walking on.
So the question to all the runners out there is:
Do you wear orthotics? Have you noticed any change in your running, or body pains from using orthotics? How long did it take you to get use to wearing the orthotics while you were running?

I have a set of sem-custom insoles to help with some heel problems - basically they’re a pair of serious arch supports, which felt a little like running with tennis balls in my shoes at first! Took about 20 miles to get used to them, and now they’re the most comfortable run ever.
